Our first public book giving

The twelfth Seen Library book exchange but the first open to the public for new faces to join, cohosted by the lovely ladies of Space of Time at Tea at Shiloh, an intimate teahouse in Downtown Los Angeles. You can get a glimpse of it here.

It was surreal being able to see people come into the space (even some coming from Seattle and Chicago!!!), looking to meet new people, be open and vulnerable, and connect over a shared passion of reading. We spent the morning with tea, pastries by MIL and of course, a curated book exchange, this time centered around stories that help us connect with ourselves and others around us, mostly by woc/poc authors.

Thank you to everyone who reserved a spot and took time out of their weekend for this. It was one of the biggest highlights of our year. Special thank you to Space of Time for making it all happen and Tea at Shiloh for the most relaxing and inviting space.

For those who couldn’t make it to the exchange, we collaborated with Space of Time to make the book list we curated for the gathering available to shop. These titles had one commonality: to invite connection or look at the world in a different way, all wrapped with a custom library card and handwritten clues about its theme or feeling—so you can connect through story, rather than by cover.

If you missed this book exchange and want to make it to the next one, make sure to follow @seenlibrary for any and all updates.
